Some of my favorite memories are of my mom's cooking. She was a mindful, careful chef. One of my favorite dishes she made was kasha varnikas. This is a tribute to her Jewish heritage and her dad (my grandpa) who she absolutely adored. This is a wonderful dish with nutty, buttery flavors with onions and lovely, fun bow tie pasta. I found this version on epicurious.com and comes from Jewish Cooking in America from Joan Nathan.
